Sunday has been the warmest day yet. I walked from Little Venice (where the Grand Union Canal joins Regent’s Canal above Paddington) over an eight mile circle that took me through many different “zones”. Before there were railroads in the mid 19th century, goods were hauled along an extensive canal system on narrow canal boats pulled by horses along the flanking towpath. Britain is proud of this heritage and has actively developed its connected waterways country-wide - largely for recreation now. It is a tremendous way to see London without street level traffic, noise, and crowds.
