One can drive from here to there – but in many places it saves kilometers and hours to cross a fjord by ferry rather than to drive around it. There are many different ferry crossings.
We are driving a new, fully loaded, diesel VW Polo. It rents for $170 USD per day – not including gas. Norway is the most expensive country in the world to visit/travel. Food eaten in a restaurant is taxed at 25%. Take-away taxation drops to 15%. Everything is taxed – heavily. One can buy anything and everything with a credit card which is easier to use than cash. Thankfully the Norwegian kroner is greatly devalued compared with the dollar five years ago. Now is the time to visit Norway – just don’t eat.
