Fall of 2005. Sharon and I are going to Vietnam for two weeks - finishing the journey with two days in Angkor Wat, Cambodia. We leave November 19th and return December 2nd.

Hello - I am traveling in Switzerland from March 23 to April 5, 2006. I will be staying with Ricardo Carbajal (a friend, painter, and Mexican-American who lived in San Diego for years) and his new wife, Gabriela (a friend, a native-born German-Swiss) at their home outside of Zurich. Then for one week we will adventure together on a grand tour through Switzerland and its Alps.

It is time for the May camping expedition. This year the three week circle will proceed through southern Arizona, to west Texas as far down as Big Bend National Park, through New Mexico and Santa Fe before looping home. Trip dates are May 7th through May 25, 2006.

Sharon and I arrive in Guadalajara Saturday October 21, 2006. We fly out of Morelia on Monday the 30th. What happens in between...

Winter in Paris.

Montreal - One week of immersion from 10/18 - 10/25/2008.

I will be in London from March 16 through the 26th of 2009. Click on an image to see the entry. Images are posted in chronologic sequence.

Sharon and I are in Spain from May 12 through June 2, 2009. The first week will be in Madrid, followed by a week in Extremadura, and finishing with a week in the Moorish south (Seville, Cordoba, Granada). The images on this and the following pages (click on the arrow at the bottom of the index page to advance) are in chronologic sequence. Click on an image to go to it. Sharon and I are in Ireland from September 22 through October 7, 2009. The images are ordered from first to latest. Enter the album and then click on the left-hand thumbnails to advance or move backward.

Between November 5 and 13, 2009 - we have driven a circle through southern Arizona. We played golf every other day for a total of four rounds.

Sharon and I are in Italy from 9/21 through 10/13/2010. I will be adding images daily so check back for updated content.

Sharon and I are touring Guatemala from February 19 through March 4, 2011.

For one week, March 27 through April 1, 2011 - we drove a 930 mile ellipse, camping in Joshua Tree, Mojave National Preserve/Kelso Dunes, Death Valley, and Red Rocks.

I am traveling in Belgium from April 12 through 27, 2011.

Sharon and Doug are back in Spain from September 20 through October 11, 2011. This trip we will be exploring the northern aspects of the country.

From November 8 through November 30th we are traveling in Chile.

London: March 20, 2012 through April 4. Then one week in Edinburgh; returning home on April 11, 2012.

From October 15 through 28, 2012, Sharon and I are touring China.

We leave on January 13 for India. We return February 1, 2013.

Sharon and I are traveling from March13 through April 3, 2013. The first two weeks we are in southeastern Spain and the last week in Marrakesh.

From July 1, 2013 through the 8th, we engaged in a wilderness camping and white water rafting trip on Idaho’s Salmon River. What follows are my impressions.

Sharon and I are off to London (October 15 - 22); Berlin (October 22 - 29). I will continue on to Amsterdam from October 29 - November 6, 2013.

March 25 - April 8, 2014 : Sharon and I are in central Mexico (Leon, Guanajuato, Dolores, San Miguel de Alllende, Queretaro, and Mexico City).

Our week started with 2 days in Walla Walla, Washington and then concluded in Boise to attend niece Marlee's graduation. May 12 - 18, 2014.

Sharon and I are traveling from August 19 through September 7, 2014. This trip includes London, Victoria Falls in Zambia, and then South Africa.

October 8 through 25, 2014 Sharon and I will be in Portugal.

Sharon and I took a week touring Mayan sites in the Yucatan from January 27 through February 4, 2015.

From April 8 through 24, Sharon and I will be traveling through Israel and Jordan.

Sharon and I are in Russia from June 9th through 22nd, 2015.

Sharon and I spent two weeks in British Columbia and Alberta from August 5 - 19, 2015.

Sharon and I are in Paris for a week and then split the second week between Epernay and Strasbourg. September 22 - October 6, 2015.

Sharon and I are in Sydney, Australia followed by the south island of New Zealand from November 25 through December 17, 2015.

April 23 through April 28, 2016 we are in Big Bend National Park in southern west Texas.

Sharon and I are in Scandinavia from June 19 through July 11, 2016. We will visit five countries, Denmark, Norway, Estonia, Finland, and Sweden.

Sharon and I spend three weeks using public transport to tour Switzerland and Austria. September 21 - October 13, 2016

Sharon and I travel to Mexico from February 11 - returning February 21st. We fly into Oaxaca and then return from Villahermosa.

Sharon and I fly to London for 5 days, then Barcelona for 5 days; finishing off the last 11 days in Sicily. Travel dates are 4/25/2017 through 5/17/2017.

We are spending five days in Prague and then about two weeks in Poland. Travel dates: July 12 through August 2, 2017.

Sharon and I are camping between Las Vegas and Denver September 28 through October 11, 2017.

From November 21 through December 12, 2017 - Sharon and I will be traveling in southern Australia. Our time will be spent in Tasmania and from Adelaide to Melbourne along the Great Ocean Road.

Between January 27 and February 7, 2018, Sharon and I will be in Costa Rica participating in a Road Scholar birding expedition.

Between April 14 and 20, 2018, Sharon and I are in central Texas to visit Sharon's family and Doug's longtime friend, Charles.

Sharon and I are in western North Carolina from May 9 - 19, 2018.

Sharon and I are in Iceland from June 13 - 25, 2018.

Sharon and I are on safari in Namibia and Botswana from September 26 through October 11, 2018.

Sharon and I are in Ecuador from January 15 to 31, 2019.

We are traveling from April 23 through May 15, 2019. After 5 days in London, we spend a full week in Madrid; followed by a long week driving through the northwest of Spain, Galicia.

Sharon and I leave for Boston on July 10th. After four days in Boston we drive a circuit through Maine - returning home on July 24th.

Sharon and I will be traveling through five countries in the Balkans from September 17 through October 10, 2019.

Sharon and I will be in Thailand for a week followed by two weeks in Myanmar: January 7 - 28, 2020.

We spent (4 days 10/4 - 10/8) in St. George, Utah to escape San Diego and the "lockdown" due to Covid-19 in 2020.

Our first international trip since January 2020 (the start of COVID lockdowns) will take us back to southern Spain for in-depth exploration of Andalucia. Travel dates are Sept. 28th to October 16, 2021.

From January 9th through the 20th, 2022 we travel to southern Costa Rica to engage with a Road Scholar birding program.

Sharon and I are traveling with Road Scholar in Egypt from March 6 through 21 of 2022.

From June 24 through July 4, 2022 Sharon and I are exploring the Peruvian Amazon. Aboard a river-boat we explore the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve between the Maranon and Ucayali Rivers.

We leave September 24, 2022 flying into Amsterdam. We return October 12th flying out of Brussels. The Netherlands and Belgium are the foci of our travels.

We are in Colombia from February 10 through February 26, 2023. Half of the trip will be birding in the northeast and the other half will be split between Cartagena and Medellin,

The group camped at Cottonwood Spring in Joshua Tree National Park from April 16, 2023 through April 19.

Over our trip to Great Britain we will spend one week in London, 4 days in Keswick, 3 days in Liverpool, and a day in Milton Keynes before returning home.

Sharon and I leave for Japan on October 13 and return on October 29, 2023.

Sharon and I are in Merida (in Mexico's Yucatan) from January 15 through 22nd.

Sharon and I arrive in Sao Paolo on 6/26 for 6 days until departing with NatHab for 9 days in the Pantanal. We conclude this journey with 4 days in Rio de Janiero.

Sharon and I fly into Istanbul on September 27, 2024 and then return home October 14th. We are touring several areas of the country.
